Martial Arts A Guiding Light Poem

The world can be a scary place,

Full of shadows, hidden face.

But in your heart, a strength can bloom,

A way to light up any gloom.

It starts with stance, a grounded feel,

Like roots of oak, so strong and real.

The balance shifts, a gentle sway,

Preparing for a brand new day.

The hands begin to learn to fly,

A block, a strike, that meets the eye.

Not meant for harm, but for defence,

To guard yourself with confidence.

The legs get strong, a powerful kick,

A spinning turn, so quick, so slick.

Each muscle learns to work as one,

Beneath the the moon, beneath the sun.

The mind is trained to focus deep,

While distractions try to creep.

To stay aware, to see and know,

Where danger lurks, where you must go.

Respect for others, that’s the key,

No bragging rights, just dignity.

To help the weak, to stand for right,

And shine a beacon in the night.

From gentle forms to bursts of speed,

A plant a seed, of what you need.

Self-control, a steady hand,

To understand, and then to stand.

It’s not about the fight you win,

But discipline that lies within.

To face your fears and push them back,

And stay upon the righteous track.

So step upon the training floor,

And open up a brand new door.

Discover strength you didn’t know,

And watch your spirit start to grow.

Martial arts, a guiding light,

To help you do what is right.

A journey long, a path to tread,

With open heart, and lifted head.
